Business Solicitation - use 2007 Auction's list of businesses to contact for donations.  This list includes businesses
that supported previous auctions and new area businesses.  Contact these businesses by letter (July)  Reconnect
with those businesses by phone, fax, or a personal visit (July/Aug.). Collect donations (Aug./early Sept.) Four
volunteers and a chairperson are needed.

Thank you notes to donating businesses - This is an after auction task and would be a great job for a working
NNLC member.  Business mailing labels, paper for thank you notes, printing, envelopes and stamps are provided
(Oct.).  A coordinator is needed

Group Solicitation - contact NNLC activity groups.  Encourage groups to donate and keep track of the donations
(June - Sept.).  Chairperson- Julie Aliano

Sponsor Solicitation - contact NNLC SPONSORS for donations (June - Sept.)  Chairperson- Cynthia Graves.  

Tablescaping - Decide what donated items are to be placed on each auction table Then box the items from each
table with the corresponding bid sheet (Sept.). Tablescaping will take place at the home of Luz Rooney for the 2008
Auction.   Volunteers may want to sign up for a couple hours each day.   Scheduled dates for tablescaping are
Thursday, Sept. 18th and Friday, Sept. 19th.  A chairperson and 10 or more volunteers are needed.

Greetings/Reservations - greet and confirm reservations for each person attending the auction.  Hand out
necessary auction materials (brochure, name tag, etc.). A chairperson and two volunteers are needed at reservation
desk.  Two volunteers are needed to watch the doors to the auction area

Happy Wanderer Monthly Auction Articles - Write monthly Happy Wanderer auction articles (May-Sept.) in
addition to producing and mailing a reminder auction postcard to members two weeks before the auction.  A
coordinator is needed.

Bottle Raffle - Members donate bottles (anything from shampoo to champagne. Volunteers wrap and number the
bottles and sell them during the auction. Members for a small fee pick a number from a basket and the corresponding
numbered bottle is hers. A chairperson and 2 volunteers are needed.       

Tabulations/Cashier - match auction item(s) with the appropriate bidder then collect payment from that bidder.  A
chairperson and 4+ volunteers are needed.

Volunteer Coordinator -  keep a current list of auction volunteers.  Provide names of volunteers to auction
committee chairpersons when needed (June - Sept.).  Coordinator- Sue Harris.

Onsite Coordinator - oversees table monitors and runners during the auction and collects even and odd table bid
sheets at appropriate times during the auction.  A coordinator is needed.  See below.

Table Monitor/Runner - A volunteer (table monitor) will manage one auction table during the auction.  When the
bidding closes at her assigned table, another volunteer  will take the bidding sheets from those closed tables to the
tabulation table located in the hallway.  Then when the auction is over the "table monitor"  will again watch over their
designated table and another volunteer who is at the tabulation table will become the "runner".  After a bidder pays
their auction bill, the "runner" will collect the bidder's merchandise. The "table monitor" watches over her assigned
table to ensure that only runners remove items from the tables, not the actual bidders.

Centerpieces - create or buy centerpieces for auction tables.  A chairperson and  5+ volunteers are needed.

Auction Theme/Brochure Design- create a theme for the auction and design the brochure's cover (May) This task
has been completed.

Cataloging - create a spreadsheet including auction items, donators and value during tablescaping (Sept.). Two
computer savvy volunteers are needed. One volunteer would shadow the other for AUCTION 2009.

Computer Detailing - provide computer design assistance to all committees such as: auction brochure, donations
cards, volunteer sign up sheets, gift certificates, etc. (May-Sept.).  Chairperson- Robin Spears,   One computer
savvy volunteer is needed to shadow Robin for AUCTION 2009.

Clean Up Crew - Help clean up when the auction is over.  Any individual who is willing.
